Reg Harris

Harris-WEB_2273262b Reg Harris OBE (1 March 1920 – 22 June 1992) was a world champion racing cyclist, born in Bury, Lancashire. He triumphed as world champion an incredible five times between 1947 and 1954 (world amateur sprint title in 1947 and the professional title in 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1954). He also broke numerous world records and won two silver medals at the London Olympics in 1948.
His ferocious will to win made him a household name in the 1950s, but he also surprised many with a comeback more than 20 years later, winning a British title in 1974 at the age of 54.

2013 Sportive

2013_event 2013 saw the inaugural Reg Harris Cyclosportive. Dawn broke on the 23rd August with bright sunshine, a light breeze  and blue skies overhead – perfect for a morning in the saddle.

An army of helpers arrived at the HQ, laden with pasta, cakes, massage tables, wine and most importantly smiles and determination to create a fun day to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities.
