Reg Harris OBE (1 March 1920 – 22 June 1992) was a world champion racing cyclist, born in Bury, Lancashire. He triumphed as world champion an incredible five times between 1947 and 1954 (world amateur sprint title in 1947 and the professional title in 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1954). He also broke numerous world records and won two silver medals at the London Olympics in 1948.
His ferocious will to win made him a household name in the 1950s, but he also surprised many with a comeback more than 20 years later, winning a British title in 1974 at the age of 54.
